Has anyone done this? I tried and there is a really long delay before the patch switches and i have no idea how i even got it to do that! I have the manual, but seem to be having some adhd/ concentration problems. Is there any specific chapter in there about triggering external modules? Is the gr-30 even capable of being accurately controlled by the axon. I really like some of the sounds in the roland and was hoping to be able to use the gr-30 patches with the improved tracking the axon provides. Anybody got any experience with this specific set-up? :?:

Should work fine.

With the old AX100 MkI, when you change Preset, the Axon does not send out a MIDI program change message until you actually start playing. This is because, if you have set a pick split or fret split, it does not know which side of the split you are going to play.

It works best with sound modules that respond very quickly to MIDI program change messages.

Hmm...i still can't get it to respond quickly. It will change patches about thirty seconds after i hit the footswitch and the patch #'s on the gr-30 wont change but the sound will! i must be missing something. (I will seek out someone midi-savy for hands-on assistance.) What are other modules that will function with the ax-100sb?

We've discussed sound modules many times here. Anything that works well with the current Axon will also work well with the old.
Personally, I recommend Emu modules from the Proteus family, including Ultraproteus, Morpheus, Proteus 1000, Proteus 2000 and all its derivatives (Extreme Lead; B3 etc.) Proteus 2500.

Sounds like your specific problem is in the Roland, not in the Axon.

Did you turn your Axon > Global > to Local "OFF" ?
Then patch switches is done from either gr-30 or GK2 (or3)
No ?.
